Shanti Yoga Shala is excited to announce that Angelique Sandas is moving to Philadelphia in May to lead the Asthanga Mysore Program

After teaching at the Miami Life Center with Kino McGregor, Tim Feldman and Greg Nardi for the past 5 years, Angelique Sandas will be moving to Philadelphia in May to lead the Shanti Yoga Shala Ashtanga Vinyasa Mysore Program.

Angelique received her B.A. in dance from the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1999, during which she spent some time studying at the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance in London, England. It was also during these years that she was first introduced to Yoga. While practicing Yoga, Angelique’s relationship with movement developed new depth and meaning. She became inspired to share what she was learning and felt drawn to teach. In 2003, Angelique traveled to Thailand to study with Paul Dallaghan in the Ashtanga yoga system as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and received her teaching certification. She has also studied Pranayama and yogic philosophy with Sri O.P. Tiwari of the Kaivalyadhama Institute in India and received advanced anatomy and adjustment training from David Keil. Until 2007, Angelique was teaching and practicing in Chicago. She then moved to Miami Beach where she studied the Ashtanga method with Kino Macgregor and Tim Feldmann and taught at the Miami Life Center.

Angelique feels blessed to have had the opportunity to be part of such an amazing Ashtanga community. She has had the opportunity to study with the Guru, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and continues her training with his grandson, Sri R. Sharath Jois, in Mysore, India. During her 2011 visit to study in Mysore, India, Angelique received Authorization to teach Ashtanga Yoga from Sri R. Sharath Jois. She is a dedicated instructor and a devoted student of yoga, embodying the spirit through it’s physical expression.

Let there be light…

On Saturday morning, November 26th opened the sidewalk to install the glass pavement above the lower level Ganesha practice room. The glass will run the length of the entire facade. It shouldn’t disturb the class schedule. We are also painting the inside of the doors

upstairs. This Tuesday or Wednesday we will be installing the glass on the inside of the studio. We are also making another alter on the North side wall of the lower level studio. The alter will be cut into the drywall and surrounded by a beautiful image of the Ganga. It will not disturb the practice area.
